2010 Fishing Reports: Jan-December 29th

Fishing and Water Level Reports for Lake Somerville

Just to save you some time, here are the fishing reports from the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, you can follow that link to check for new ones, but here are the reports for the year so far. (New reports are posted some time after each Wednesday and we add them here some time after that, so, if you do not see the current week for Lake Somerville here, go there and have a look.)

December 29, 2010, Water murky; 62 degrees; 2.02’ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and cut shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

December  22, 2010, Water murky; 66 degrees; 2.01’ low. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and cut bait. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

December 15, 2010, Water murky; 67 degrees; 1.97’ low. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and cut bait. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

December 8, 2010, Water murky; 68 degrees; 1.89’ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

December 1, 2010, Water murky; 71 degrees; 1.80’ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

November 24, 2010, Water murky; 71 degrees; 1.71’ low. Black bass are fair on Rat–L–Traps and small spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on minnows and green striper jigs. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp, liver, and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

November 17, 2010, Water murky; 73 degrees; 1.69’ low. Black bass are fair on Rat–L–Traps and small spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on minnows and green striper jigs. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp, liver, and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

November 10, 2010, Water murky; 76 degrees; 1.64’ low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on live bait. White bass are good on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and hot dogs. Yellow catfish are slow.

November 3, 2010, Water murky; 79 degrees; 1.51’ low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on live bait. White bass are good on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and hot dogs. Yellow catfish are slow.

October 27, 2010, Water murky; 79 degrees; 1.37’ low. Black bass are fair on shallow running crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

October 20, 2010, Water murky; 82 degrees; 1.30’ low. Black bass are fair on shallow running crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

October 13, 2010, Water murky; 84 degrees; 1.18’ low. Black bass are fair on minnows. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are fair on minnows under lights at night. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on minnows, shrimp, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

October 6, 2010, Water murky; 85 degrees; 1.07’ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are good on minnows at night. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on minnows, nightcrawlers, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

September 29, 2010, Water murky; 89 degrees; 0.89’ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs at the marina. Channel and blue catfish are good on punch-bait, shrimp, and liver. Yellow catfish are slow.

September 22, 2010, Water murky; 88 degrees; 0.76’ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are fair on spinnerbaits and Rat–L–Traps. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Perch are good on worms. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

September 15, 2010, Water murky; 88 degrees; 0.67’ low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are fair on spinnerbaits and Rat–L–Traps. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Perch are good on worms. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

Yellow catfish are slow.

May 12, 2010 Water murky; 70 degrees; 0.11′ low. Black bass are fair on Rat–L–Traps and minnows. Hybrid striper are good on crawfish and super spoons. White bass are good on crawfish and super spoons. Crappie are good on minnows, black/chartreuse jigs with red heads, and super shad jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on punchbait in 2 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
